Although I thoroughly enjoy domestics like my 67 Impala SS and my 69 XR7 Cougar and my 63 Nova SS, I got into VW classics many years ago in California. Ever since I always have one around. I introduced my Brother-in-law to the VW's and he is a fanatic now. The pic's you see is my brother in laws 71 Super Beetle VW Turbo is a prime example of 20 g's of complete rework on this bug. Ya she's what we V-dubbers call a fat pig but let me tell you there is no problem getting her down the track in the 1/4 mi in the low 11's. I'd call that a "Super Pig". Not bad for a street eater!
I am a member of the NCVWDRA or North Coast VW Drag Racing association. We are about 25-30 strong in VW beetle class and two of us are water cooled Rabbit Turbo and Scirocco Turbo. We are bracket elimination racers. This will be my first year going T3/T4 turbo using the VW Corrado G60 series setup. We no Longer race at Quaker City Raceway in Salem Ohio as the track sold and the new owners would not return our requests to again race there. So this year 2012 we have been racing at Dragway 42 and got the chance to attend Larry's Off Road races. Some big names in the VW class at that races pulling .534 in the 8th mi. Of course we stayed in the 6's and up. stay tuned for my build progress!
