Factory Specifications:
1988 Mitsubishi MightyMax, 2.3L I4, 5spd manual.
Performance Modifications:
Vehicle 1988 Mitsubishi MightyMax 4WD Motor Netgain WarP 9 Series Wound DC Drivetrain 5-speed Manual, KM145 w/4WD Controller Cafe Electric Zilla 1K -HV with Hall Effect Pedal Input. This thing has all the required set points and is easy to program with the Palm. Liquid cooling package. Batteries 16 Deka Intimidator, 12.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, AGM Batteries are kept balanced to within 10mv on charge and discharge using PowerCheq Battery Equalizers. System Voltage 192 Volts Charger Manzanita Micro PFC-20 This thing has begun its lifelong daily task of pumping 4 to 6 KWH a night into my batteries. Heater Used existing heater core as a "frame" for the ceramic electic heater element. Switched each half separately. 1/2 the element seems to be fine for down to 32*F and heats the cab in 3-5 minutes. I'm now using the full element as temps dip into the teens. At 18*F the full element heats the cab in 2-3 minutes. DC/DC Converter Vicor V300A15T500BL 500 Watt DC-DC Maxi Module. Output trimmed to 14.2 VDC. Instrumentation So far only a speedo and inoperative gasoline and oil pressure guages. The Palm Pilot spewing Zilla DAQ data is quite useful. I'm getting good at reading hex and coverting to real values in my head. Been driving on Empty for almost 2 months now. Breugemann Meter in the works. Top Speed 85 MPH (136 KPH) 0-45 in 2nd gear @ 4200 RPM 0-70 in 3rd gear @ ~4500 RPM I've hit 85mph easy in 4th gear with more room under the accelerator pedal. Still haven't shifted to 5th yet. Acceleration 0-60mph in 12.2 seconds starting in 2nd gear and shifting to 3rd. 0-60mph in 14.5 seconds starting right from 3rd gear. Range 40 Miles (64 Kilometers) 25 Miles to 50% D.O.D. on secondary roads 35-50 mph, Stop-N-Go. I calculate approximately 40 miles to 80% D.O.D. but I'll only try it when I have to. I have run two 32 mile trips down to 60% D.O.D. Watt Hours/Mile 366 Wh/Mile 366 Wh/mi average over my 15 mi RT commute on secondary roads 35-50 mph, Stop-N-Go. Running 1/2 of the ceramic heater element moves the average to 385 Wh/mi. Running the full heater element moves the average to 400 Wh/mi. Seating Capacity 2 adults. Cargo space is the rear 1/3 of bed plus the space between the bed wall and battery boxes (width of wheel well) on both sides. Curb Weight 4,060 Pounds (1,845 Kilograms) 1720# Front / 2340# Rear. Thats a 42%/58% split, front/Rear. Original weight was 3080# with 1840# Front / 1240# Rear or 60%/40% Front/Rear. Tires Four + Spare Conversion Time 320 hours to a drivable conversion. Cosmetics and guages still yet to go. I averaged 16 hours a week for 5 months to get it to driving condition. Conversion Cost about $12K Additional Features Swapped all the signal lamps to LED's
